chug chug chug

chug chug chug

There’s a moment on the roller coaster after you’ve summitted the height,
and gained momentum on several spins and turns,
where the coaster flies up a hill,
and you reach the peak,
before gravity’s pull kicks in, and
you stop.

you’re weightless.
you’re no longer on earth.
you no longer own anything.
you no longer think thoughts.
you no longer believe in god.
you no longer know anything but

bliss.

and then you scream,
not out of fear,
but
delight
as the coaster drops down the wooden frame.
you grab onto the metal bars that protect you from flattening.
as the coaster comes into the departure gate,
you thank the chug, chug, chug that efforted you to the top
and the swoosh that welcomed you back.

you remember the bliss.

You get in line for another ride.
